When you want to look your best, for professional or personal reasons, teeth-whitening is a popular way to enhance your smile.

What is teeth-whitening?

Teeth-whitening is a popular cosmetic dental treatment that can remove discolouration, lighten the natural colour of your teeth and give you a sparkling smile.

Over time, the colour of teeth naturally darkens. In addition, drinks such as coffee, red wine, and coloured foods can discolour teeth.

Smoking, some medications and poor oral hygiene can also leave teeth stained and discoloured.

Is teeth-whitening right for me?

Teeth-whitening should only ever be prescribed and carried out by a dentist.

When you come in for your initial consultation, your dentist will advise you if a whitening treatment is appropriate for your teeth.  You must be over 18 and have healthy teeth and gums to benefit from a whitening treatment.

If whitening is right for you, your dentist will explain the treatment options and help you decide on the most appropriate whitening option.

What treatments are available for teeth-whitening?

At Precinct Dental, we offer a number of teeth-whitening treatments including:

Home-based teeth-whitening

Custom-made dental trays containing a whitening gel are worn over your teeth for a few hours a day, or overnight for a period of a few weeks.

Home-based teeth-whitening treatments such as White Dental Beauty™ are a convenient way to a whiter and brighter smile.

White Dental Beauty™

White Dental Beauty™ is a professional home-based teeth-whitening treatment prescribed and overseen by your dentist. The whitening kit includes everything you require to brighten your teeth at home.

Enlighten Evolution™

Enlighten Evolution™ Teeth-whitening is a combined home and in-practice treatment. Patients can experience teeth up to 16 shades brighter, with long-lasting results. Precinct Dental is the only accredited Professional Enlighten Tooth Whitening Centre in Abingdon.

How long does the effect last?

The effects of whitening treatments can last several months. The effectiveness and duration depend on your individual teeth. In addition, the amount of tea, coffee and red wine you drink, as well as eating coloured food and smoking can affect the duration of teeth-whitening.
